He spent the first 12 years of his BJJ learning from John Hassett in NJ. He now lives in Myrtle Beach, SC and trains with Frankie Patches of Serra BJJ. Shama Ko is the program director of an organization called Girls in Gis (GIG). GIG supports a growing and supportive community of women in BJJ. Chapters of GIG are springing up all over the Midwest.
